Safe Standing Campaign Update

12 September 2017

Campaign passes 64% mark as extended for the final push

Originally scheduled to end on 12 September, the campaign to bring safe standing to England & Wales is being extended to allow for the crowdfunding push to raise the targeted total of £75,000.

A pioneering initiative driven by the Shrewsbury Town Supporters Parliament, the campaign has not achieved its ambitious goal by the original self-imposed deadline. However, Mike Davis of the Supporters Parliament advised “The end date was merely an indicative point to aim for and the real objective is to raise the money we need to introduce the first rail seating section in England & Wales at the Montgomery Waters Meadow, so we will keep the campaign open till we do. Giving every fan the choice to stand is far more important.”

Brian Caldwell, Shrewsbury Town FC CEO, added “The Club is behind this effort 100%. Shrewsbury Town are proud to be leading the campaign to bring safe standing to England & Wales. There is so much passion for this project, from all around the country, I have no doubt the safe standing community will make this happen.”

Targeting £75,000, the campaign currently stands at £47,342 (63%), and will be extended in order for the required target to be met - with the campaign organisers advising that the sooner the money is raised, the sooner rail seats will be installed and the sooner the Montgomery Waters Meadow will become a shining example of why government policy should be changed.
